You may be throwing an event with friends, hosting family, or staying in watching Holiday flicks with your loved one. We came up with a list of some great holiday drinks you will enjoy!
- Hot Buttered Rum
Ingredients:
– 2 ounces dark rum
– 2 tablespoons butter
– 2 tablespoons brown sugar
– 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– Pinch of ground cloves
– Boiling water
– Cinnamon stick (optional)
Instructions:
- In a mug, combine the rum, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
- Pour in boiling water to fill the mug. Stir until the butter is melted and all ingredients are combined.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired and serve hot.
- Mulled Wine
Ingredients:
– 1 bottle of red wine (750 ml)
– 1/4 cup brandy or cognac (optional)
– 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (or to taste)
– 2 oranges, sliced into rounds
– 4 cloves
– 2 cinnamon sticks
– 2 star anise pods
– Pinch of ground nutmeg
Instructions:
- In a large pot over medium heat, combine the wine, brandy or cognac (if using), honey or maple syrup and orange slices.
- Bring to a simmer and add the cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise pods.
- Simmer for 10 minutes until fragrant and flavors have blended together.
- Taste and adjust sweetness as desired with more honey or maple syrup if needed.
- Strain out the solids before serving in mugs or glasses with a pinch of nutmeg on top for garnish if desired.
- Irish Coffee
Ingredients:
– 2 ounces Irish whiskey
– 2 teaspoons brown sugar
– 6 ounces freshly brewed hot coffee
– Heavy cream for topping
Instructions:
- In a mug or glass, combine the whiskey and brown sugar until dissolved.
- Add in the hot coffee and stir to combine everything together well.
- Top with heavy cream by pouring it over the back of a spoon so it floats on top of the coffee mixture without mixing in completely (this will create a nice layered effect).
- Serve immediately while still hot!
- Cranberry Margarita
Ingredients:
– 2 ounces tequila blanco
– 1 ounce triple sec liqueur
– 1 ounce cranberry juice
– Juice from half a lime
Instructions:
- Fill a shaker with ice cubes then add in tequila blanco, triple sec liqueur, cranberry juice and lime juice from half a lime (reserve other half for garnish).
- Shake vigorously for 15 seconds then strain into an ice filled glass rimmed with salt if desired (or use sugar instead).
- Garnish with remaining lime wedge before serving!
- Spiked Apple Cider
Ingredients:
– 8 cups apple cider
– 4 ounces spiced rum
– 4 tablespoons brown sugar
– 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
– 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
– 4 whole cloves
Instructions:
- In a large pot over medium heat, combine apple cider, spiced rum, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves; bring to a simmer then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes until fragrant and flavors have blended together nicely; taste and adjust sweetness as desired with more brown sugar if needed; strain out solids before serving in mugs or glasses.
- White Russian
Ingredients:
– 3 ounces vodka
– 3 ounces Kahlua liqueur
– 3 ounces heavy cream
Instructions:
- Fill an old fashioned glass with ice cubes then pour in vodka followed by Kahlua liqueur; stir gently to combine everything together well; top off with heavy cream by pouring it over the back of a spoon so it floats on top without mixing in completely; serve immediately while still cold!
- Peppermint Martini
Ingredients:
– 2 ounces vodka
– 1 ounce peppermint schnapps liqueur
– Splash of white creme de menthe
Instructions:
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes then add in vodka, peppermint schnapps liqueur and a splash of white creme de menthe; shake vigorously for 15 seconds then strain into a chilled martini glass; garnish with a candy cane or peppermint stick before serving.
- Spiced Rum Punch
Ingredients:
– 2 cups spiced rum
– 2 cups pineapple juice
– 1 cup orange juice
– 1/2 cup lime juice
– 1/4 cup grenadine syrup
Instructions:
- In a large pitcher, combine spiced rum, pineapple juice, orange juice and lime juice; stir to combine everything together well; add in grenadine syrup and stir gently to combine; serve over ice in glasses or mugs.
