Actress Kristie Alley has passed away after battle with cancer

Award winning actress Kristie Alley has passed away. Her family revealed she had a long and private battle with cancer. Alley’s manager Donovan Daughtry confirmed the death in an email to The Associated Press.

“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away,” her children True and Lillie Parker said in a post on Twitter.

Alley was best known for her role in the television sitcom Cheers throughout the 80s-90s, and a few movies such as It Takes Two with the Olsen twins. 

Over her career she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series, multiple Prime Time Emmys, and People’s Choice Awards.

The latest film she worked on was You Can’t Take My Daughter but in the last few years has been struggling with her health.

She was 71 years old.
