Lamar Odom Sues Former Manager Tonita Bybee for $1 Million

Lamar Odom has filed a lawsuit against his ex-manager Tonita Bybee for over $1 million, alleging that she forged documents to take a Brooklyn home that has been in his family for almost 30 years.

The 43-year-old athlete and reality star claimed in legal documents that he terminated Bybee as his manager in May 2022 due to her nefarious activities involving his real estate portfolio.

The Queens, New York native alleged that Bybee sold off the home, which he owned and had been in his family for nearly three decades, in what he described as a fraudulent transfer.

The former NBA player stated in the legal documents reviewed by Page Six that his aunt, Carol Janean Mercer, had been residing at the home following the death of his uncle Michael Mercer in August 2022.

The retired basketball player, who played forward for the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers for the majority of his career, claimed in the legal documents that his aunt is facing eviction as a result of Bybee’s unauthorized and illegal actions.

According to court records, Odom accused Bybee of engaging in embezzlement, identity theft, misappropriation, and various other types of fraud, claiming that she had acted with malice, wanton dishonesty, and a high degree of immoral turpitude. Despite being terminated in May 2022, Bybee allegedly continued to book Odom for work and accept payment for those bookings.

In his lawsuit, Odom has also named a public notary who was involved in the transaction of the home. Odom informed the court that the notary had improperly notarized the documents in the real estate deal. He stated that the notary had attested to his presence and signature despite not being present either in person or remotely to execute the forged deed.

Odom also revealed that Bybee had used his name, signature, email addresses, social media accounts, and social security number in multiple instances without his permission.

Odom, who was previously married to Khloe Kardashian, alleged that Bybee utilized all of the aforementioned components to deceive individuals and corporations by accepting speaking and appearance engagements and took money for the services even after he had terminated her more than a year prior.

Odom informed the court that Bybee has also failed to compensate him for several projects he was engaged in, ranging from an NFT agreement to Celebrity Big Brother, College Hill: Celebrity Edition, and Celebrity Boxing.
